IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE TODAY, YOU MUST:

1. Write follow up to HUGE
2. Email Barbara & Sundaram re: Dreamweaver
3. Register for a class

This whole 'if you do nothing else' list has really been kind of incredible. I've mentioned the idea to two other people in the past 2 days and now they are doing it too... It makes me think about how I prioritize my time... How often I procrastinate and how easy it is to make stuff happen (or at least get things done) if you set out to actually do them. It was a good day in this regard.

Love this.

thursday pep talk

Today I decided not to go to the gym and spend some time working on creative stuff instead.

I think that everyone has those defining moments (or series of moments) when they realize that what they are doing - or what they have been doing for a long time - has put them in a place that they don't really want to be. I wonder if this happens frequently for all people or just more frequently for ME. I am constantly wondering what the next thing is and how my current thing is going to get me to that next thing...

but i'm tired of looking at my jobs, my friends and my circumstances and saying, 'god, there is so much potential here. I wonder what will happen'

dumbass. i'm so tired of potential. i'm tired of wondering. i'm ready to know.

and so, i have become very motivated to make something happen from the potential.

IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE TODAY, YOU MUST:

1. Email Liz
2. Reply to Nicholas
3. Print Application
4. Email Ahsan and Tariq

I don't know why it took me so long to realize that it is the small steps that actually start moving you in big directions. I think I just forgot. I somehow fell into being all talk and little action. So I started making lists called the "If you do nothing else" lists. They are small lists of small actions that I can take each day to get me closer to the big things that I want to do. I have decided to post them.

I'm really excited about all the people I will be hearing over the next weeks.

The Curators
Curatorial strategies are spilling out of galleries and museums and into our everyday design practices. As emphasis shifts from designer to consumer, the vital role of designer is often that of mediator, shaping ideas and content created by others into another user experience. How have these new pivots changed the role of designer from one of artisan to one of curator? Four lecturers speak to curation as a way of design life, and how their audiences learn from, are inspired by, and gain insights from it.

Hillman Curtis at the Apple SoHo Store
Following his passion for film and design, Hillman has earned and maintained his status as a leader in the new media design industry. He and his company have over 20 years of combined experience, and have advised and designed digital media for such companies as Adobe Systems Incorporated, AOL, Hewlett-Packard Company, Intel Corporation, Yahoo!, Inc., Rolling Stone and MTV, among others.

I'm also very excited about a Web Seminar I'll be attending along with some other people from AIGA

Daytum Website.

This website by Nicholas Felton is amazing... for keeping track of all of the things that you want to keep track of! I don't feel so strange for counting the number of people in each one of the subway cars now.
